Madeleine Kirk: stop York Hospital job cuts
12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 24th Oct 2006
Letter to York Press 24/10/2006
Dear Sir
I was very concerned to see the study in the International Journal of Nursing Studies, highlighting the link between nursing shortages and patient death rates. I entirely agree with the Royal College of Nursing that it is essential to retain nursing posts as they play such a vital role in the recovery of patients.
This study emphasises the importance of retaining the 60 beds and 200 jobs which are threatened at York District Hospital. I hope the Government takes note of this study and re-thinks its plans to make such severe cuts.
Yours faithfully
Cllr Madeleine Kirk
