Madeleine Kirk, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for York Outer, is calling on the Highways Agency to take action to make the junction of the A64 and Towthorpe Moor Lane safer. "This junction is an accident blackspot, and the traffic congestion it causes is a real problem, especially at peak travel times" said Madeleine. "Local residents have been telling me that improvements are badly needed." Because of these concerns, Madeleine has launched a campaign to put pressure on the Highways Agency, and has been thrilled by the response to a petition she is running on the issue. "We launched the petition in May, and have had an overwhelming response. Local people really care about the safety of this junction and it is a pleasure to be leading the campaign to put pressure on the Highways Agency to finally do something about it," said Madeleine.
