Madeleine Kirk Secures New Equipment for Flooding Blackspot

Local people in Strensall are thrilled with the news that one of the area's worst flooding problems has been resolved.

The area, around The Village, has been a flooding blackspot for many years. Local Lib Dem councillor, and Prospective Lib Dem MP for York Outer, Madeleine Kirk raised local people's concerns with Yorkshire Water. New pumps have now been installed at the Cobbs Cottage pumping station that will resolve the problems.

Madeleine said: "I met with Yorkshire Water after local people had told me how worried they were about the flooding around The Village. The new pumps should make a huge difference to the flooding problems in our area. It's great to hear that action has been taken so quickly."

The new pumps are now installed and working at the site on Haxby Moor Road.
