Success on Haxby station but fight goes on for Strensall

News that Haxby station has been government funding by the Regional Transport Board is great, but the fight to see the Strensall halt reopened continues, says Madeleine Kirk (Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for York Outer).

Speaking following the announcement of transport funding yesterday, Madeleine said "It is great news that our long campaign to get Haxby station reopened has finally resulted in funding. I am also pleased that money has been allocated to the Council for more roundabout improvements on the ring road, although it is disappointing that the full project has been knocked back.

"I am sure residents in Strensall will want to keep up the pressure for our station to be reopened to enable us to commute more easily.

"I will also keep campaigning for better funds for transport for our area - Yorkshire is badly underfunded and this stops us being able to make the transport improvements we desperately need."
